The Way Back Home-Stay Close

Robert Pitman

At the heart of this message is the truth of the Gospel of John 15. Jesus is the vine, we are the branches, and God the Father is the gardener. We are not the vine—Jesus is. Our responsibility is simply to remain connected to Him.

This message explores what it means to abide in Christ through seasons of pruning and growth. God’s pruning isn’t punishment; it’s preparation for greater fruitfulness.  Whether we are fruitful branches needing refinement or struggling branches needing renewal, His goal is always restoration and abundance.

We are challenged to examine our hunger for God. Are we casually satisfied or truly desperate for His presence? By prioritizing daily time with Jesus, meditating on His Word, and resisting the forces that pull us away, we learn that fruitfulness is not about performance—it’s about connection.

When we delight in the Lord, our desires align with His, and His love, joy, peace, and purpose overflow into the lives of others.

Prioritize Daily Time with Jesus

* Staying connected to Jesus means setting aside intentional time each day to be with Him in the quiet—reading His Word, praying, and simply being in His presence. This isn't about religion or checking boxes; it's about nurturing the most intimate relationship of your life.

Surrender During the Pruning Process

*When God allows difficult seasons in our lives, He's not punishing us

He's pruning us to produce more fruit. The question isn't whether we'll go through fire, but whether we'll be resistant or responsive. Stop fighting against God and start surrendering to Him, trusting that He is working everything for your good.

Let Your Desperation Drive You to Him

*Desperation has nothing to do with performance. Bring your desperation to God and let Him do the performing. When you remain in Jesus and His words remain in you, your desires begin to align with His, and your prayers become powerful and effective. Pray this week: "Lord, let it all happen as You have planned. Let it be as You have decided."
