The Ways of Jesus- Rest

Sep 20, 2026    Jonathan Gray

What if one of the most spiritual things we could do this week is simply stop and rest? In a world that often measures our worth by how much we accomplish, slowing down can feel difficult. But Scripture shows us that rest is part of God’s design. From creation in Genesis to Jesus inviting His disciples to step away from the crowds in Mark 6, we see that rest matters to God.

In the middle of a busy season of ministry, Jesus noticed something others didn’t—the disciples hadn’t even had time to eat. The crowd didn’t notice. The work didn’t notice. But Jesus did. And His invitation to them is still His invitation to us: come away with Me to a quiet place.

Rest isn’t something we earn after everything is finished. It’s a gift and a rhythm God built into our lives. Sometimes slowing down and being with Him is exactly what we need to keep going.
